Officine Panerai did not disappoint either.  The new LAB-ID, a watch which uses advanced technology previously unknown to the world of watches, showcases unique solutions that have revolutionized its design and mechanics, making use of the infinite potentials of Carbon.  The BMG-TECH™ is both harder and lighter than steel, and iis the first watch made from this innovative technology.  BMG-TECH™ is a bulk metallic glass with a disordered atomic structure, obtained through a high-tech process, so that the atoms do not have enough time to become arranged in an ordered, regular structure.  This technology also makes the watch 100% corrosion resistant.LABID

Screen Shot 2016-01-04 at 11.36.14 AM

If you’re a fan of Panerai, this is definitely a watch you have to see. Sleek, striking, and strong, the Tuttonero Luminor 1950 3 Days GMT Automatic Ceramica exemplifies Panerai’s history of creating seriously superb timepieces.

Screen Shot 2016-01-04 at 11.36.24 AM

The Tuttonero’s 44mm classic Luminor 1950 case boasts of Panerai’s Florentine heritage. It uses 29 jewels, 229 components, and a GMT hand all in the Panerai P.9001/B caliber. And its automatic movement has a three day power reserve and seconds reset function. But what is most astounding about this watch is its strength —which happens to be 5 times stronger than steel. Both the black bracelet and case are coated in zirconium oxide powder. After a series of finishing processes, it creates the incredibly hard finish and gorgeous matte look famous on the Tuttonero. The ceramic is impressively resistant to damage from corrosion, scratches, and extreme temperature.

“Tuttonero” is Italian for “all black”; a perfect description for this sleek and handsome timepiece. Everything from the case, to the bracelet, to the very movements visible from the back, are colored black for stunning, seamless blend of matte black. The dial is styled after Panerai’s famous “sandwich” construction. The small seconds hand and markers, in a subdial at the 9 o’clock, and the date in an aperture at 3 o’clock, are all treated with Super-LumiNova. Along with the numerals and hands also coated in the luminous material, the Tuttonero allows for easy nighttime visibility.

Take a look at some of the reasons why the Luminor Regatta is one of our favorite luxury watches:

Every watch collection needs a timepiece that is rich with history yet wrought with innovation. When we tried the Luminor Regatta on our wrists, it just felt…right. This instrument is not only sleek; it’s comfortable, lightweight, and impressive in all things horological. Framed in the contrasts of a black face and a silver-toned titanium case, the Regatta has a modern color scheme that sets it apart from others of its kind. Orange, blues, and whites subtly tie the piece together, all the way from the hands to the hour markers.

Main feature:

Regatta Countdown

A countdown timer is pretty rare for a mechanical watch, which is what really sets apart this Luminor timepiece. The main feature on this watch in the Regatta Countdown. The reason behind this feature comes from the American Cup’s Boating requirements. Crews are given a 5-minute window to prepare their boats and position themselves for best entry at the starting line.  So crews must manage their speed and cross at maximum speed at the starting line.  Hence, this 5-minute countdown period on the Regatta.
